Maritime UXO is a specialized field within military and civil operations that focuses on the detection, identification, recovery, and neutralization of UXO, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and other explosive hazards in marine environments. This includes the oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, beaches and sometimes even in wetlands and flooded areas.

Maritime EOD operations are critical for ensuring the safety and security of shipping lanes, military operations, and infrastructure projects in and around water. These operations are carried out by highly trained and skilled divers and technicians who are experts in underwater navigation, bomb disposal techniques, and the use of specialized equipment designed for underwater operations. The goal of maritime EOD is to mitigate the risk posed by explosive hazards to naval forces, commercial shipping, and civilian activities.
